How Does it Work?
The LiveTrack uses GPS satellites to determine the exact location of the tracker and then uses the mobile phone network to transfer that location data directly to your smartphone. Using the free iCar App, your Android phone or iPhone will allow you to see where the tracker is located. You can also view where the tracker has been on previous days using the Location History feature. You can set up a Geofence or virtual boundary so that you will be alerted if the tracker goes out of that boundary. When you park your car or boat you can also activate the Parking Monitor and, you will receive an alert on your phone as soon as your tracker starts moving! You can add an unlimited number of trackers to your phone app, so you rest assured knowing all of your vehicles/toys are accounted for.

Installation is as simple as it gets, firstly you need to register your ALDI sim card at www.aldimobile.com.au/choose-activate/ (full instructions in the box), The SIM card has $5 prepaid credit on it that will generally last at least 3 months but the SIM card needs to be activated for the tracker to work. Although you can use SIM cards from other telcos we use the ALDI Telstra SIM card as it offers 12 month expiry on data usage and has very good coverage on the Telstra network. You can add credit to your SIM card at any time by simply logging on to your new ALDI account. Even with the most frequent location updates $15 credit will usually last a full year!
If you prefer to use an alternative SIM card such as Telstra mobile, Vodafone or Optus you can replace the pre-fitted SIM card with the SIM card of your choice. In these cases you may have to set up a new APN specific to the SIM card brand you are using and be aware that these telcos may charge you monthly fees as part of their data plans and this may be more expensive than the ALDI rate.

Can I allow my friends or family to track my vehicle?
Yes. They just install the free iCar App on their phone and add your tracker to it. To do this you need to give them the IMEI code of your tracker and the share code you have selected and then they can instantly see where your vehicle is. For safety reasons they will only have access to your current vehicle location and can not set geofences or change any settings.

How do I know if my car has been stolen?
If you want to be alerted when your car moves without you in it then use the Parking Monitor feature. When you park your car simply press the grey “P” icon on your iCar “Current Location” screen. The icon will turn blue when activated. The tracker uses a g-sensor trigger that will detect movement and you will be alerted immediately by receiving a notification on your phone.

If the boat is moored on water and may be moving regularly then, instead of using the Parking Monitor method, simply set a Geofence or virtual boundary. You can choose how often you need updates from the tracker. You can choose any of the 5 options ranging from 30 seconds updates to 2 hour updates.. You can set this on your phone via the app. If the tracker is in Sleep mode (designed to save power usage) because it hasn’t moved for several minutes, the tracker will update every 2 hours just to save power.

What happens if the tracker is in an area with no 3G mobile coverage?
We have addressed many issues in developing the LiveTrack but this is one that we can do nothing about. If the tracker is in an area with no mobile phone coverage then it cannot send the data to you and will not update on your phone until it moves back into mobile phone coverage.

How can i check if my SIM activation is OK?
Call the mobile phone number you have been given by ALDI Mobile and if it rings, hangs up and you get a text giving you the current location then all is good. If it goes straight to a voice mail then there is no power to the unit or there is an issue with the SIM card activation.
