Under-driving the accessory pulleys to reduce parasitic power losses from the alternator, air conditioning, water pump and power steering at high engine RPMs. A smaller, lighter harmonic balancer is like a lightweight flywheel and can sharpen throttle response and allow the engine to rev out faster.

The Powerbond underdrive balancer reduces parasitic power losses associated with high accessory speeds, freeing up additional HP. It also reduces the rotating inertia on the front of the crankshaft allowing for faster revving.
What do Underdrive Pulleys do? Underdrive pulley systems increase engine horsepower by reducing the amount of power required to drive external engine accessories. For example, the alternator, power steering, water pump and air compressor rob horsepower from the engine. By replacing factory-sized crank and accessory drive pulleys with a resized pulley, the accessories are slowed, resulting in more horsepower available to the drive wheels. All pulleys are manufactured from Billet Steel or Aluminum, exceeding factory quality.

The POWERBOND Race Series brings the advantages of bonded balancers to high revving race and street/race applications where an SFI approved balancer is required.
Every Race Series POWERBOND balancer features a precision CNC machined AUSI 1045 forged steel hub bonded to an equally strong steel inertia ring. Advanced design means that Race Series balancers are very light for an all steel product. In most cases they are only marginally heavier than the original cast iron balancer and generally much lighter than other all steel balancers on the market.

The steel inertia ring of the Race Series models is positively protected against forward and backward movement and has the assurance of bonded rubber to eliminate spinning.
Every model has easy to read computer etched timing marks.
All POWERBOND Race series balancers meet SFI specification 18.1.

Fitment notes:
  • This is for the balancer only. You will require belts with this kit, as the standard belts will not fit. 
  • Belts are NOT included.
  • This kit will require use of a 6PK1930 main drive belt and a 4PK1015 air conditioning belt for the listed vehicles.
  • All Powerbond Race series balancers feature a keyway slot in order to meet SFI Race certification 18.1. If being used for street use alone you can easily silicon it shut with no hassle.
